This short clip comes from the play Write About What You Know by Paul Gisby, which we performed in 2018. Annabel Newstead points a gun towards her husband, Brian. But she looks away as she fires and misses him. The script called for the shot to destroy a water heater, but we chose a wall plate as a target instead, behind which we fitted a spring-loaded bolt that was attached to the flat. At the exact moment the gun fired, the stage crew had to hit the bolt with a hammer, causing the plate to shatter. We probably got through several plates before getting the timing right!
